I chose the Master of Science Program in Stroke and Clinical Neurosciences (MCNS) for my educational pursuit, since it is the first well-known program in neurology in Hong Kong. It is a well-structured course which could equip students with both clinical knowledge and professional skills in the management of stroke and neurological diseases.

The program’s teaching faculty consists of university professors and clinical frontline experts. All of them are excellent speakers and they share their professional experience, making every course interesting and fruitful. The curriculum also comprises of practicum sessions, which provide chances for students to explore assessments and managements in different related health care disciplines. With more in-depth knowledge and practical experience from the lectures and practicum, "we can communicate and cooperate more effectively with other disciplines when handling stroke and neurological cases." Moreover, the final project requires students to apply research knowledge learnt from the lectures. Those research knowledge is very important in providing evidence based clinical care to patients, allowing us to initiate projects which advance knowledge in our professional context. The course consolidates students’ foundation in bringing development and contribution to our workplace, or even our professions.

After finishing the whole curriculum, I am now well-equipped and confident enough to handle neurological cases, and to meet the coming challenges in this field. With the increasing prevalence of stroke and neurological diseases in view of the aging population, the course is undoubtedly a good choice for healthcare professionals who are interested in neurological field.
