Excellent Dissertation Award

This programme consists of lectures and practicum. It provides students with fruitful knowledge related to stroke care, neuroimaging and other neurological diseases. Besides, it offers interactive workshops for students to gain practical exposures in different fields. These workshops help us to integrate theories into clinical practice.

I am a nurse working in the acute stroke unit (ASU) for a few years. In my hospital, 24-hour thrombolytic therapy service has been implemented since 2015. All nurses in ASU are trained to help neurologists to screen the eligibility criteria for ischemic stroke patients for thrombolytic therapy in the Accident and Emergency Department. Although a short course had equipped us with relevant knowledge about stroke and thrombolytic therapy, I admit that it was still a big challenge for me when working independently. My friend, who is a graduate of the CUHK MCNS Programme, highly recommended me to choose this programme to enrich my knowledge in stroke.

This programme consists of lectures and practicum. It provides students with fruitful knowledge related to stroke care, neuroimaging and other neurological diseases. Besides, it offers interactive workshops for students to gain practical exposures in different fields. These workshops help us to integrate theories into clinical practice. In the neuroimaging workshop, Professor Vincent Mok helps students to interpret CT imaging based on history taking and physical examination. This workshop guides me how to localize the lesions clinically according to the focal neurological deficits. It is very useful and makes me more confident to interpret CT imaging in clinical setting.

This programme is well-organized and well-designed for working professionals. Lectures are held in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. Both workload and assessment methods are reasonable. Tips and practical skills about statistical procedures and scientific report writing given by Professor Adrian Wong facilitate students to plan and develop the dissertation in a systematic way. To conclude, it is the best choice for students from different disciplines who are interested in stroke and neurosciences.
