Neurology always gives students the impression of many complicated and mysterious pictures. Honorably, I have the opportunity to uncover parts of the abstruse veils after completing the Master of Science Programme in Stroke and Clinical Neurosciences (MCNS). I am a physiotherapist who has worked in outpatient clinics for some years; thus having most of the experience in the musculoskeletal aspect but not neurology. Recently, I have been working in the community field which involves cases mainly suffering from stroke, dementia and severely disabling conditions resulting from cerebral palsy or brain injury. Therefore, I chose the MCNS Programme so as to brush up my neurological knowledge. During the past two years, I exposed into different valuable topics such as neuro-anatomy, neuro-surgery and electro-diagnosis and many updated topics such as the MOCA test and social communication problems. Furthermore, the practical sessions are delivered vividly by the enthusiastic professors and teaching staff. This programme has equipped me with good neurological rationales so that I can cater my professional services confidently.

Under the dedicated guidance of the MCNS professors, I completed my thesis and was also creditably conferred with the Excellent Dissertation Award. My project is a kind of service development, which is to find out the effect of Mozart music on the people with spasticity, and the result showed that the Mozart music somehow outweighs the general relaxing music in releasing spasticity. In my working place, the music therapy is then adopted and incorporated into the activity groups, which shows positive atmosphere and effect to the participants. Moreover, Professors also recommended me to publish the thesis on journals or participating an international conference. Therefore, I am trying to put some more efforts on these aspects, too. I am really thankful for the support of the MCNS team to give me a fruitful study experience. The inspiration from all of you has given positive impacts to my profession.
