I am a Speech Therapist working in a public hospital. In my daily work, I frequently encounter patients with stroke and other neurological diseases. At times, there were neurological conditions that I was not familiar with. Seeing more and more patients with diverse types of presentations, I felt that it was time to enrich my knowledge about stroke and neuroscience. I found that the Master Programme of Stroke and Clinical Neurosciences was highly relevant and well established. It has also received positive feedbacks from my colleagues. That is why I chose to enroll in this programme.

After attending the classes of the programme, I had a systematic revision on neuroscience and various types of neurological diseases. Of course, there was much new knowledge that I did not learn about in my background training. I could also appreciate the perspectives of different doctors, nurses and therapists on managing stroke and neurological diseases. Upon completion of the programme, I have found that I can understand different neurological cases more easily and view the management more holistically.

One of the best things about this programme is the design of the contents. They are well-structured and tailor-made for paramedical staff. I felt that what I learned were right to the point. The knowledge was not too superficial, nor was it too extensive. More importantly, "the lectures were usually delivered from a practical perspective, in the sense that application on patients was stressed on top of merely factual knowledge." Another merit is that the courses were taught by experts from a variety of disciplines, including doctors from different specialties, nurses, various therapists, psychologists, dietitian and traditional Chinese medicine practitioners. This arrangement has really broadened my horizon. Last but not least, the workload was reasonable. This programme allows students to gain knowledge effectively, practically and holistically, and at the same time enjoy work-study-life balance.
